Whether you arrive by train or bus, you'll find yourself near the City Centre. The conference is mainly based in Wolfson College (Linton Road, Oxford OX2 6UD) which is just over a mile north. Travel advice is on the conference website but just to note that this week is the annual St Giles Fair (its 400th year!) and this is located to the north of the city centre on the route to the college.
This means there are road closures and normal bus routes are suspended on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. If you're heading straight to the college it's up to you whether you taxi or walk, and if you walk on Monday or Tuesday you have the option of visiting the fair on the way (though this might not be ideal with luggage) or indeed avoiding it entirely.
When you arrive at Wolfson you will be at "The Lodge" (reception). If your accommodation is in the College then you can check-in there. There will be signage to follow for the conference, and the registration desk is open from 9.30am on Monday 9th (and from 9am on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th). Our team at the registration desk can help you with all conference-related queries, while the Lodge will deal with anything to do with bedrooms.
On Monday we are entirely based in College, with workshops in three seminar rooms, and then the conference opening at 4.30pm (followed by pizza at 5.30pm) in the Buttery, with our first concert at 7pm in the Leonard Wolfson Auditorium (LWA).
On Tuesday and Wednesday all the conference presentation sessions are in the Auditorium. Lunch will be provided in the Haldane Room off the main dining hall, as well as refreshments at every break - it's our dedicated social space for the conference.
Tuesday evening's concert is back in town, in the Denis Arnold Hall in the Music Faculty on St Aldates. With the concert starting at 7.30pm you will have plenty of time to get from Wolfson to St Aldates and enjoy the city - as well as St Giles Fair there are many options for restaurants, cafés and pubs serving food en route.
Wednesday evening's "club night" concert is in Common Ground on Little Clarendon Street, near St Giles. The fair will have finished then (and the buses will be running). There will be buffet food provided - and again you have a selection of pubs en route.
The concerts are open to the public so we have eventbrite pages for them - but you don't need to book tickets as we have organised for all conference delegates to attend. But you might like to look at the pages anyway to find out more about the concerts:
